Privacy Policy

Last updated: January 1, 2026

RecurWell is built and operated by GolfSum PLLC (“we,” “us,” “our”). This Privacy Policy explains what data we collect when you use RecurWell, how we use it, and the choices you have.

Summary

  • We never collect bank credentials. There is no Plaid, no Teller, no bank-login integration.
  • We only process the files you choose to upload (statements, receipts).
  • Your data is stored encrypted in Google Firebase. OCR runs inside Google Cloud.
  • We do not sell your data. We do not use third-party ad or analytics SDKs that share financial data.
  • You can delete all of your data at any time from the in-app Settings.

1. Information We Collect

Information you provide

  • Account information. Email address, and — if you choose Sign in with Apple — the information Apple provides back to us (an opaque user identifier and, optionally, a name and relay email).
  • Financial data. Bills, receipts, and transactions you upload, enter, or that we detect from files you provide. This can include merchant names, amounts, dates, and categories. You control what you upload.
  • Uploaded files. Receipt images you photograph or pick from your library. Statement files you import are parsed and the extracted transactions are stored. The statement file itself is not kept after parsing.
  • Support communications. If you contact us, we keep the contents of your message so we can respond.

Information collected automatically

  • Device and app diagnostics. Basic technical information to keep the app working: device type, OS version, app version, and crash logs. We use this to fix bugs and improve stability.
  • Push notification tokens. If you enable notifications, we store an Apple Push Notification Service token so we can deliver reminders to your device.
  • Subscription status. RevenueCat tracks your entitlement (trial, active, expired, lifetime) so we know whether to unlock Pro features.

What we do not collect

  • Bank account usernames or passwords
  • Full credit card numbers (purchases go through Apple, not us)
  • Precise location
  • Contacts, photos (beyond what you explicitly share), calendar, or health data

2. How We Use Your Information

We use your information to:

  • Operate the Service, including storing your bills and receipts, sending reminders, and syncing across your devices
  • Parse statements and extract line items from receipts using optical character recognition
  • Detect recurring charges, price changes, and trial conversions in your own data
  • Manage your subscription and entitlement
  • Respond to support requests
  • Fix bugs and improve the app
  • Comply with legal obligations

3. Merchant Cache

RecurWell maintains a shared cache of normalized merchant names. For example, the raw transaction string “NETFLIX.COM LOSGATOS” may be cached as “Netflix” with category “subscriptions.” This cache is global across users because it contains only the cleaned-up name and category of a merchant string, never personal or user-specific information. It lets us reduce OCR and language-model costs as more users import data.

4. How We Share Information

We do not sell your personal information. We share information only with the service providers needed to operate RecurWell:

  • Apple — authentication (Sign in with Apple), in-app purchases, push notifications
  • Google Firebase — authentication, encrypted database (Firestore), encrypted storage, cloud functions
  • Google Cloud (Gemini) — server-side OCR on statements and receipts. Your raw file content stays inside Google Cloud
  • RevenueCat — subscription and entitlement management

We may also share information when required by law, to enforce our Terms, to protect our rights or the rights of others, or in connection with a corporate transaction such as a merger or sale of assets. If that happens, we will notify you.

5. Data Retention

  • Statement files themselves are not retained after parsing.
  • Parsed transactions, bills, and receipts are retained for as long as your account is active, with a 24-month rolling window for transactions.
  • Receipt images are kept until you delete them or delete your account.
  • Crash logs and diagnostic data are retained for up to 90 days.
  • Backup copies are fully purged within 30 days of deletion.

You can delete any bill, receipt, or your entire account from the in-app Settings. Deleting your account removes your data from our live systems immediately.

6. Security

All data is encrypted in transit (TLS) and at rest (Firebase-managed encryption). Access to production systems is limited to authorized personnel. We follow industry-standard practices to protect your data, but no system is perfectly secure. Please keep your device and Apple ID secure.

7. Your Rights and Choices

  • Access and export. Export your bills and receipts to CSV at any time from Settings > Reports.
  • Correction. Edit any bill or receipt directly in the app.
  • Deletion. Delete individual records or your entire account from in-app Settings. You may also email us at support@recurwell.com.
  • Notifications. Turn off push notifications from Settings, or at the OS level in the Settings app.
  • Tracking. RecurWell does not use the iOS App-Tracking-Transparency permission because we do not track you across apps or websites.

If you are in California, the EEA, the UK, or another jurisdiction that grants privacy rights such as the right to know, the right to correct, the right to delete, the right to portability, and the right to object, you may exercise these rights by emailing support@recurwell.com. We do not sell or “share” personal information as those terms are defined under California law.

8. Children

RecurWell is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us information, please contact us and we will delete it.

9. International Users

RecurWell is operated from the United States. If you use the Service from outside the U.S., your information will be transferred to and processed in the U.S., where privacy laws may differ from those of your country.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When changes are material, we will notify you in the app or by email. The “Last updated” date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision.
